Pursuing Master Degree at Korea

#Second writting Take a look about my studies here

Hai guys, here, i just want to share little about my studies here. At first i never imagine to pursuing master degree in South Korea, i never dream to have school here. I always admire will continue my school to South Korea's neighbor countries hehehe. When i seen about research area from one Profesor here, i get interest to apply, and after leran more about his research area, i try to applied as a master degree candidate at his lab. Honestly i was not too hopefull if he will be accepted me, because actually i still admire to pursuing my master degree at other country (not South Korea).  I am just try and nothing lose for my application .  It so coincidence process, My profesor give nice answer for my application, he accept me without any hard requirement. His answer was really welcome, but at that time I little confuse if i have to continued or not my application. After have passed to found prospective Profesor, i have to manage some document to follow administration admission in the University. Some problems came up when the admission procces, but it was not problem. At last week at January I officially get letter of Acceptance that formally stated I accepted as a Master Student at Pukyong National University, Busan, South Korea.

PUKYONG NATIONAL UNIVERSITY (PKNU) 부경대 학교, is one of korean national university located in Namgu District, Busan. PKNU located in strategis area near Gwangan bridge. PKNU have 2 campus, Daeyon campus and Yongdang campuss. Daeyon (대연) campus is main campus (many major located there), meanwhile yongdang (용당) campus is dominated by Engineering faculty. It is take 10 minute by school  bus to go to yongdang campus from daeyon campus. To reach PKNU is easy, there is subway station near campus (line 2- Kyungsung univ& Pukyong Nat' university station).

In PKNU you can found many international student, since here university give  scholarship for tuition fee for international student, so in PKNU you able to meet with people from anywhere in the world (it is great chance to make international friendship :D). I pursuing master degree in faculty of natural science, department of Chemistry, Nano-Chemistry and hybrid material Laboratory. Our lab focus is to make material that can applied in medical purpose. Our lab work have strong background in physical chemistry and biochemistry field. For my master degree i give topics about polymer for drug delivery. I work with amphiphilic polymer that could able to solubilize water insoluble cancer drug. That polymer able to encapsulate that drug and provide stability of drug untill release in target tissue.

Doing experiment here, give me such great experience, time management, hardworking, try to be productive person, are some of good habit i learned here. Mostly in korean lab have official lab work from 09.00am-18.00/19.00, but sometime you have to spent more time in lab to finish your work, it is depend on lab regulation. Some of my friends have official lab work from 09.00 am- 22.00 pm with day work from Monday-Saturday (so tough life hehe) . I am grateful that my official lab work just from 09.00 am-19.00pm, monday-friday. Sometimes i spent more time in lab, but not everyday just if i have some problems to be solved.

There are some lab-habit that commonly found in Korean University lab. You will have weekly meeting with your team (lab-mate) to discuss your work or to present your progress work. Since you have weekly meeting it's mean you should have  result or progress in your research periodically. You are able to attend some conference or seminar to present your research. Some of my friends have 2-3 times conferences during master degree (depend on research and your profesor that will provide financial support hehe). Beside some academic meeting, there are some unformal meeting between Professors and their student, they usually have lunch , dinner or vacation together. If you doing research in your master degree you are not able to have full summer or winter vacation. Even insummer and winter vcation, you have go to lab to doing research. Vacation days that you can take during winter or summer vacation is depend on lab-rule (Profesor policy). I give example, in my lab, my profesor just give me 14 free days  every vacation (summer and winter break), so i have around 28 days vacation every year.

That's all of my second writting, i hope you enjoy read my share story. If you have quoestions about my resarch or my university, kindly i ask you give comment on my stories.

Thank's
