The trip to the Indian golden triangle New Delhi-Agra-Jaipur (part 1)

The desire to write my trip to the 3 famous cities in India has been longing in my head for quite some time. Though when finally I started to write my Indian golden triangle, it was 2 years after I left India. Back then in 2019 during the summer-time, I got a chance to stay in India for 3 months for a research fellowship. I stayed for 3 months in Hyderabad city, the capital city of Telangana estate (my life experience in Hyderabad will be posted separately). Right before my fellowship ended, and after my research duty was complete, I got some free time to enjoy some beautiful places in India. I decided to use my short-free time to visit the Indian Capital city, New Delhi and the followed my visit to the nearby cities including Agra and Jaipur. I took 2h flight from Hyderabad to New Delhi. I decided to take a flight since it was a sensible transportation option for me who. while it could take more than 24 h if I took the train and even longer if I want to use the bus. Hyderabad is located in almost the south area of India, while New delhi is more to the north area. It was my first journey alone outside of Hyderabd city. It took some courage for me to go alone to another city in India, that I just had little knowledge about. Arrived in Indira Gandhi international airport (New-delhi), I then took a Delhi-metro to the city center. Actually, the distance between Delhi airport to the city center is not that far, If you took a cab also (uber and other online transportations are available), it won't cost that much. But at that time,  decided to take Delhi metro since I still don't comfortable in the new city take a cab alone. So, in my thought at that time,it is better to go to public transportation with many people there. moreover, I also landed in Delhi in the daytime, so I want to have little experience to try Delhi-Metro. You can find Delhi metro route easily from the internet. From my point of view, the Delhi metro is a comfortable transportation option, it is fast, cheap and for the beginner, we can avoid some frauds since we just need to find the nearest station near to our destination (find a way in the google map). Luckily, the metro system in Delhi is quite comprehensive, fit with urban-style and millennial people and it also almost reaches all area in Delhi. I just need to pay around 80 rupe (around $ 1,1) for my travel from the delhi airport to the city center (very affordable).  If you wish to use the city metro from Delhi airport, you need to go outside of the airport and take a walk around 800m. A little tip, just ignores some people who try to offer you a cab or try to fool by showing you in the wrong direction, ask the officials before you leave the airport, and just walk confidently to find the metro.  Some popular transportation options that can you use including a three-wheeled vehicle (rickshaw), city bus,  online taxi.

inside the metro-train, clean and comfortable. It was 2019, (before the pandemic, so there is no physical distancing)

New delhi is big city containing many important institutions in India. Many historical building also lays in the New delhi. the first place that I visited in new Delhi is Akshardham temple. Akhshardam is a beautiful and astonishing temple. this temple is not only functioning as tourist attraction, but also a Hindu house of worship. to enter Akshardam is free, but we are not allowed to take pictures inside and also all of the electronic devices need to be deposited to the guard (too sad that we can not take picture inside, it is beautiful, well-manage temple indeed). You find more pictures about akshardam temple from google posted by the authorized party. If you visit delhi, this is one of the highly recommended place. I suggest you visit Akshardam in the around evening if you wish to see the water show. They displays the a great water show right after sunset (you have to check again regarding the timing). The fee to see the water show also very affordable, it just cost 80 rupe ($ 1,1) for an adult.  There is a metro station near akshardam (akshardam station). If you wish

I just able to captured Akshardham from outside.

The second place I visited in Delhi was the Gandhi Smriti. It is a museum showcasing the journey of Indian very significant figure and hero, Mahatma gandhi. We can learn how the life of Gandhi and many valuable thoughts and noble missions of Mahatma Gandhi through various socio-educational and cultural programs. This museum has great ambiance, and it displays also peacefulness. It cost-free to enter the museum.

As the sun went higher, I decided to move to another place, and my choice was the lotus temple. A magnificent temple built by white marble and crafted like the lotus flower. This temple also a place of worship, so thus we are not allowed to take pictures inside. The lotus temple is surrounded by water (pond) just like in the real, where the lotus flower life on the surface of the water.

There is a nearest metro station from lotus temple (but sorry, I could not recall it). just need to walk around 10 minutes from the metro station to the lotus temple. There is no admission fee for this temple.

The red fort, Qutub minar and also Humayun`s tomb are also some of recommended attractions in Delhi. If you could manage to do seeightseeing in the night, you can go to Indian gate, where you can find many street food especially in the night.

Since my visit in Delhi was short (1.5 day), I vould say that, New delhi is nice city to visit.

My second destination city is Agra, which is famous with renowned Taj mahal. Detail of my trip to Agra and Jaipur will be writting in the next post...

Thank you
